Who is individual therapy for?

Individual therapy is for adults who are struggling to understand and cope with their experience.

That might involve trauma, intimacy or relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety, shame, or low self-esteem, or any of the many other challenges life can bring. Some people notice they’ve been avoiding painful feelings, or feel disconnected and lonely even when life looks fine from the outside.

My practice is inclusive of all backgrounds and experiences, and queer-allied.

What does “process-oriented” mean?

I’m a process-oriented, humanistic therapist. Rather than focusing on a single “problem,” we focus on you: how you experience, communicate, and relate to yourself and others.

Many of us cope with life by avoiding painful feelings, whether through shopping, eating, substances, overworking, or managing the people around us. Over time that can lead to more disconnection and loneliness. Therapy is an opportunity to reinvent your reality: to reconnect with your own experience so you can make choices, take responsibility for yourself, and find comfort in life’s discomfort.

What happens in a session?

Our work is collaborative. Together we’ll:

  • Look at how you’ve coped with your circumstances in the past, and expand on deeper experiences.
  • Connect with your past to understand how it’s affecting you now.
  • Transform your relationship with yourself, and how you communicate and relate with others.

We’ll take time to build trust first. I’ll ask difficult questions with care, name patterns and gently challenge them, and keep a pace that feels tolerable, not overwhelming.
